What is The Diya App about?

The Mantras by Diya App can help you find daily mindfulness, stress relief, and inner peace. We have compiled Vedic Mantras across a variety of everyday goals and motivations to help you improve your focus and maximize relaxation and wellness.

What is a Mantra?

A Mantra can be a simple sound or a combination of words in the form of a hymn, prayer, or poem that are considered to have spiritual meaning and significance.

Mantras are considered to resonate with collective energy in and around an individual. They can be used anywhere and by anyone for both material and existential goals and are considered to be one of the most effective tools for focusing the mind in meditation and spirituality.

A mantra is often described as a distillation of a spiritual practise, the pared down essence that one contemplates while perfecting one’s focus. It is a simple practise that helps anchor on to a positive emotion, while also motivating you. 

It builds a system of belief, regardless of what religion you follow or choose not to follow. The practise of meditation and mantra recitation or chanting has long been proved to have massive benefits on the mind and body, leading human beings towards a happier path in life and a more fulfilling journey.

Where are these Mantras from?

The Mantras in our App come from a variety of Vedic and Puranic source material. We have worked with the best spiritual scholars across India to parse through volumes of Vedic source material to find and summarize relevant mantras for daily use.

What do these Mantras mean?

Mantras can take on various forms and serve a multitude of purposes. Some mantras are simple sounds, such as “Aum”, which is considered to have a positive vibratory effect when recited. Other Mantras can be more complex poems or hymns designed to invoke or to focus the mind on certain types of energies. Each mantra has a unique meaning and purpose. The Vedic source material was originally composed in the ancient Sanskrit Language, so literal translations can be difficult to interpret.

How do you use a Mantra?

Mantras are amongst the easiest meditative tools in existence. They are generally considered to create positive vibratory and calming effects in and around when recited and/or listened to. Generally, repeating or listening to a Mantra audibly for 108 repetitions is considered to be the most beneficial, however, in practice even as few as 5 or 11 repetitions improve relaxation and focus. All of the Mantras on our App repeat 11 times per play and you can play them as many times as you want! 

 

You can also recite different Mantras together for specific goals. Many of the Mantras on our App combine different prayers so they are tailor-made to a certain motivation or goal.

Can anybody listen to or use a Mantra?

Yes! Mantras are meditation tools meant for everybody. You do not need to be overtly religious or agnostic to reap the benefits. You can listen to a Mantra at anytime and anywhere you could use a few minutes of relaxation.

How long should I use a Mantra for?

A Mantra is ultimately a form of mental exercise. The longer you use it, the more effective you may find it. We generally recommended sticking to a mantra for at least one month before changing.

Why Mantras?

Well, although Mantras are easy to use, the explanations provided are often complicated and it is often difficult to understand when a certain mantra is relevant for a certain goal. Consequently, they are not as easily accessible for a person looking for mindfulness. We wanted to shed light on this wonderful meditative tool and make them as easy to access and use as possible!

App Usage

How do I add a Mantra on the App?

You can add a Mantra directly from your My Mantras page by clicking on the “Add Mantra” slot. You will be directed to a search page where you can filter through different topics to find something relevant to you. The free version of the app always lets you add and use one mantra at a time. To get the most out of the app however, we recommend becoming a monthly or annual member so you can use more mantras at once and customize your spiritual path according to your needs.

How do I know a Mantra is correct for me?

We have provided summaries of all mantras and overviews of the deities and spiritual energies evoked. Before you add a mantra, you can always read through the descriptions to make sure a mantra is right for you.

How do I remove a Mantra?

On your My Mantras homepage, swipe left on the Mantra you want to remove. The slot will shift and expose a Reminder and Delete button. Simply click the X to remove a mantra. We recommend only removing a mantra once you feel your goal has been achieved.
